ActorJesse Tyler Fergusonrevealed he isn't immune to believing rumors about his former Modern Familyco-star,Sofia Vergara.
In a June 2025 interview with This Morning, Ferguson, who played Mitchell Pritchett on the beloved ABCsitcom, said he still feels a close bond to his Modern Family co-stars, even though the show ended in 2020 after an 11-season run. He admitted, however, that he didn't know much about Vergara's love life after her and her second husband actor Joe Manganiello's 2024 divorce. Ferguson shared that he started to believe rumors about who Vergara could be dating.
"She's single at the moment and I'm like doing that thing that my mom used to do, like where she'd see a story about me like in a tabloid and believe that it's true," said Ferguson.
The actor shared that Vergara, who played Mitchell's stepmother, Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, was quick to clear up the rumors.
"Because I haven't talked to her, I'm like, 'Who's this new person you're dating?' She's like, 'It's a tabloid. It's not even real! ... This is not something to be concerned with. I am single. They're coming out of the woodwork.'" said Ferguson in the 2020 interview.

People magazine reported that Vergara shared the traits she wants in a potential love interest in a May 2025 interview on The TODAY Show.
“I want to say the basic stuff, like health and somebody that loves me. And somebody tall, handsome. I want somebody that has as much money as me or more, because if not, it’s a nightmare. They end up resenting you," said the 53-year-old during the interview.
She said that she also would like to date "somebody fun."
"I need fun in my life," said Vergara during the TODAY interview.
Vergara also revealed she "kind of panicked once [she] got divorced" in 2024 about being single. She clarified that she is "not really in a hurry anymore" to get into a relationship.
People magazine reported that Vergara revealed why she and Manganiello split in a January 2024 interview with El País. She explained that Manganiello, who is five years her junior, "wanted to have kids."
"I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore," said Vergara.
The actress noted that she has a son in his 30s, named Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, whom she shares with her first ex-husband, Joe Gonzalez.
"I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother. So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children," said Vergara to El País. "I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do."
