Chicago Bears center Drew Dalman is the recipient of the 2025 Art Rooney Sportsmanship award.
Dalman, who is in his first season with the team, is one of 32 nominees for the league-wide award. It is a prestigious honor and I’m glad to see that the man in the middle of the Bears offensive line is getting some due praise. Offensive linemen don’t traditionally get a ton of love. And centers (as well as interior linemen as a whole) don’t tend to get a ton of attention unless something is going wrong. But not only is Drew Dalman having a good season in Year 1 as Chicago’s center, getting a sportsmanship award is something nice to put on the mantel.

With that being said, this feels like a good time to share some Drew Dalman fun facts. My favorite might be that Dalman is Pro Football Focus’ third-highest-graded center this season. Dalman’s 81.0 grade is bested only by Kansas City Chiefs perennial Pro Bowler Creed Humphrey (90.3) and Indianapolis Colts center Tanor Bortolini (83.1).
When it comes to pass protection, Dalman’s 73.6 PFF grade ranks as the fourth best among the 36 centers who have played enough snaps to qualify. ESPN’s pass-block win rate ranks the top-20 interior linemen, which fetures Dalman checking in with a 96 percent pass block win rate that ranks as the seventh best among his peers along the interior OL (and fifth best among centers).Meanwhile, his 82.6 run blocking grde is the sixth best.
Drew Dalman’s presence has heped stabilize a position group that is helping lead the charge for one of the NFL’s most productive offenses. Between his run-blocking prowess and pass-blocking proficiency, the big-money contract the Bears shelled out for the center in free agency has been a win for General Manager Ryan Poles and this front office. And kudos to Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson for calling his shot back in March and laying out why Dalman’s arrival would immediately improve Chicago’s offensive line.
