According to the Rosemont Public Safety Department, Reid filed a police report after talking to detectives on Tuesday afternoon, with new details coming to light surrounding an incident that occurred at a suburban hotel on Sunday morning.
Rosemont officials confirmed police and paramedics responded to an EMS call at the DoubleTree Hotel on River Road Sunday morning at approximately 12:39 a.m.
According to officials, patrol officers assisted Rosemont paramedics, and transported Reid to an area hospital.
Video posted by TMZ, which was obtained by a witness, showed the “American Pie” actress on a stretcher, with the actress telling the publication she left a drink at the bar unattended while smoking a cigarette and when she returned, the drink had a napkin placed on top that she did not put there. She went on to drink her beverage and the next thing she remembers was waking up in the hospital.
Representatives for Reid did not respond to NBC Chicago’s requests for comment, but a rep told People the actress believes her drink was “tampered with” and said she “has filed a police report.”
Police told NBC Chicago no such report had been filed as of Monday, but that changed on Tuesday when officials confirmed that detectives spoke to Reid.
Rosemont police did not specify why Reid filed a police report, and did not provide further details. They did say an investigation is continuing, and that they “understand the severity of the allegations” made by the actress.
“The Rosemont Public Safety Department understands the severity of the allegations being reported and are committed to investigating this incident fully,” officials said in a statement. “At this point, we are in communication with the hotel to gather as much video surveillance as possible. As this incident has just been reported and is still open, no further information is available at this time.”
A spokesperson for the actress issued a statement after the incident.
“She is cooperating fully with the investigation. Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time,” the statement from Reid’s rep read. “She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone.”
Reid had been in the Chicago suburb for an appearance at the Chicago Sports Spectacular event Sunday.
