2025 Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 2 State Championships
Nov. 14-15, 2025 St. Peters, Missouri SCY (25 yards) ResultsIt was an exciting finish and sweet history for the Chaminade College Prep boys’ swimming and diving team at the Missouri Class 2 State Championships.
Chaminade won its first state title since 1984, doing so in thrilling fashion.
Class 2 is the largest of Missouri’s two classifications for swimming and diving.
Down by a half-point to Rockhurst in the overall team standings going into the 400 free relay, Chaminade’s team of Michael Purcell (46.22), JP Costello (47.32), Colin Cunneen (46.96) and Henry Mara (46.14) took first in a time of 3:06.64 to clinch the title.
Chaminade finished 7.5 points ahead of Rockhurst, which was 3rd in the 400 free relay.
The only other victory for Chaminade came in 1-meter diving, where senior Max Van Stone set a Class 2 state record with 567.05 points for his third straight state title.
Liberty Senior had the only two multiple- event winners.
Graham Henderson, a sophomore, won the 50 free in 20.53 and the 100 back in 48.63, both personal best times.
Cole Tobin, a junior, took the 200 free in a personal best time of 1:39.11 and the 100 free in 45.50 to repeat as champion in that event.
Henderson and Tobin also helped Liberty Senior win the 200 medley and 200 free relays.
In the 200 medley relay, the team of Henderson (22.85), Adam Houck (26.85), Nathan Searis (22.28) and Tobin (20.67) won with a time of 1:32.65.
In the 200 free relay, Tobin (21.40), Searls (21.04), Jace Graham (21.86) and Henderson (19.91) guided Liberty Senior to a win with a time of 1:24.21.
The other individual event winners were:
Rockhurst junior Aadan Lutman improved on a 6th-place finish last year in the 200 IM, winning the event this year in a personal best time of 1:52.05. Searls, a senior at Liberty Senior, swam a personal best time of 49.73 to win the 100 fly. Staley senior Sam Hennenfent, a Duke commit, repeated as champion in the 500 free in a time of 4:32.03. Ryan Coughenour, a senior from Rock Bridge who has committed to Florida State, took the 100 breast in a personal best time of 55.00. He was 4th in the event last year.Team Standings — Top 5
