Costco's Lobster Mac and Cheese: My Honest Review

Overall, the flavor is really good. The sauce has a noticeable garlic-forward profile, which I assume comes from the alfredo base. I’ll admit, I was a little disappointed to learn the sauce was alfredo-based rather than a classic roux-and-cheddar-style mac and cheese, but it’s still rich, flavorful and completely satisfying.
The lobster itself is genuinely tasty, though a few pieces did dry out a bit in the oven. I would’ve loved just a touch more lobster and maybe a couple of larger chunks, but for a dish that comes in under $30 and serves a crowd, I was impressed.
My kids loved it, which is a parenting win! They did eat around the lobster pieces, but honestly, that just meant more for me and my husband. As a holiday side, it’s a crowd-pleaser and incredibly easy to transport or reheat, making it a great option for potlucks or family gatherings where both kids and adults want something cozy. And as a bonus: it’s made with cavatappi, which is my personal favorite pasta shape for mac and cheese. The best bites were the crispy edges mixed with some lobster...chef's kiss!
All in, Costco’s Lobster Mac and Cheese is a convenient, budget-friendly way to bring an indulgent, restaurant-style dish to your holiday table without the fuss of making it from scratch. And it remains viral for good reason—it's rich, aesthetically pleasing and very yummy.
While it’s not a traditional mac and cheese and could benefit from a bit more lobster, it delivers on flavor, comfort and ease, three things most of us desperately need during the holiday rush. If you’re hosting a crowd, heading to a potluck or just want a fun, elevated twist on a classic, this is one prepared dish that’s absolutely worth adding to your Costco cart.
