ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Nice start to the week but we need to watch a few systems Tuesday through Thanksgiving Day and Friday. Monday will bring partly sunny skies and pleasant weather with temperatures near 50. Tuesday will start dry but end wet with some rain in the afternoon and evening. Wednesday will be mainly dry and briefly quite mild with high temps well into the 50s to near 60 degrees. A strong cold front will arrive late in the day with some rain and then much colder weather arrives Wednesday night into Thursday with some gusty winds over 40mph.
Thanksgiving Day will definitely be colder with temps holding in the 30s. Gusty winds will add to the chill of the day. Lake effect snow will impact areas southwest of Rochester with a band off Lake Erie during much of the day. Thankfully it doesn’t look overly heavy but will impact travel towards Wyoming County and over the western Southern Tier of New York. Some light amounts of snow are possible into parts of the westside, Genesee and Livingston Counties. At this time, it appears the heavier snow will stay south of Buffalo and Batavia but stay tuned for updates on accumulations and exact timing and placement the next few days.
Looking ahead to Friday the wind will turn to the northwest and that will bring some Lake Ontario snow into parts of the Rt.104 corridor and Wayne County. Windy and cold weather with flurries elsewhere. At this time heavier snow should stay well east of Rochester and be more of an impact in central New York around Syracuse.
