Senuran Muthusamy reached the milestone with two runs off Mohammed Siraj. The Indian pacer bowled a short delivery outside the off stump, and the Proteas star quickly moved onto his back foot, timed the shot beautifully, and placed it right into the gap near sweeper cover.

The left-handed batter became only the third South African player to score a Test hundred while batting at No. 7 or lower against India. Before him, only Quinton de Kock, who scored a classy 111 in Visakhapatnam in 2019, and Lance Klusener, who hammered an unbeaten 102 in Cape Town way back in 1997, did the same.
After Muthusamy’s century, Marco Jansen also smashed fifty before the lunch break on Day 2 in Guwahati. With this, South Africa created a rare history against India. For the first time ever, two South African batters from No. 7 or lower scored 50+ runs in the same innings against India.
In fact, in the last 13 years, only one other touring side has managed something similar in India, and that is England when Liam Dawson and Adil Rashid both crossed fifty at Chepauk Stadium in 2016.
