ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Syracuse native and former NFL player Casey Rogers has signed with the Rochester Knighthawks.
Rogers recently made his return to lacrosse, signing with the Philadelphia Wings. Long before his NFL career, he was a high school lacrosse All-American at Westhill in Syracuse.
Initially, he committed to Syracuse University for lacrosse with his father, Lelan Rogers, a Central New York legend. However, he decided to take a prep year to play football.
Rogers signed with the New York Giants after the 2024 draft in April as an undrafted free agent. He joined the practice squad before the 2024-25 season, playing his first NFL game on Dec. 7, 2024.
Over this past summer, Rogers was on the Buffalo Bills training camp roster, fighting for a spot on the official Bills roster.
News10NBC Sports Reporter Ian Mills had the chance to talk with Rogers during training camp, where he reminisced on his time playing lacrosse.
“Obviously, grew up playing ever since I was a little, all I can remember is having a lacrosse stick in my hand. My dad being involved and coaching at Syracuse and being as involved in the lacrosse world as he is. It was hard to put it aside,” said Rogers.
