The 2nd day of the 2025 Phill Hansel Invite saw more great racing out of the 11 teams present. Nevada’s Scarlet Ferris once again impressed, popping a 51.16 100 back to win the race by over a second. That swim came after Ferris led off the Nevada 400 medley relay on Wednesday night in 51.21, which was, at the time, her career best. With her performance last night, Ferris clipped her PR by another 0.05 seconds.
Nevada teammate Huska Batbayar won the 200 free in 1:46.66. That was a strong mid-season swim out of Batbayar, who holds a career best of 1:45.53.
Nevada earned a 3rd individual event win on the night, seeing Jinjutha Pholjamjumrus win the 400 IM with a time of 4:10.97. She was particularly great on the freestyle leg of the race, splitting 56.71 on the final 100. The swim is also a big career best for Pholjamjunrus, whose previous best was 4:13.84.
Houston’s Evelyn Entrekin was excellent in the 100 breast, winning the race in 59.75. She was just a hair off her career mark of 59.67, which she set at the Big 12 Championships last season.
Rice’s Lily Archibald won the 100 fly in 53.11. The freshman was just off her personal best of 53.02, which she swam back in the spring.
Rice also earned a win in the 800 free relay, where Reese Cole (1:48.83), Bella Zhang (1:51.19), Avery Karacz (1:48.65), and Ava Portello (1:48.21) combined for a 7:16.88.
Florida Gulf Coast won the other relay of the day, the 200 medley. Izzy Ackley (24.33), Cassie Bauer (28.15), Libby Russum (23.36), and Mia Burke (22.63) teamed up for a 1:38.47, winning the race by half a second. Of note, Scarlett Ferris led the Nevada relay in a speedy 23.85.
