25th Summer Deaflympics (Swimming)
Thursday, November 20– Tuesday, November 25, 2025 Tokyo Aquatic Center, Tokyo, Japan LCM (50 meters) ResultsThe swimming portion of the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics is set to begin on Thursday at the Tokyo Aquatic Center, the same venue that hosted swimming at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
This year’s event marks the 100th anniversary of the Games and the first time Japan has hosted.
The same rules apply to deaf swimming as they do to the hearing sport. Athletes use starting lights as signals: white means “get on the blocks/platform”, red means “take your mark”, and blue means “start”.
The swimming events will be headlined by deaf swimming world record holders Marcus Titus (USA), Matt Klotz (USA), and Terence Parkin (AUS). All three competed at the 2013 Deaflympics (pictured below) in Sophia, Bulgaria.

Titus currently holds long-course deaf world records in both the men’s 50 breaststroke (27.79) and the 100 breaststroke (1:00.00). He also holds the top 100 freestyle time of 51.22.
Klotz holds the all-time top marks in the men’s 50 backstroke (25.95), 100 back (56.06), and 200 back (2:01.96). He also holds the world record in the 50 free at 22.85.
The Australian Parkin holds the world record in both the men’s 200 IM (2:03.33) and the 400 IM (4:16.92). He is also the fastest performer in the 200 breaststroke, with a time of 2:12.50.

The Games will also mark the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under the Deaf Individual Neutral Athlete (DINA) regulations. Russian and Belarusian athletes were previously barred from the Deaflympics in 2022 in Caxias do Sul, Brazil, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Brooke Thompson of the United States will aim to repeat her five-gold-medal effort from 2022. The Rutgers junior and team captain is making her second appearance at the Deaflympics and is slated to compete in 10 events over the six-day competition.

Carli Cronk will be a must-see in the pool. As one of the most decorated Deaflympians of all time, Cronk is coming off of her 2022 showing that saw her leave Brazil with 12 gold medals, multiple world records, and the record for most golds by an athlete at a single summer Deaflympics.
