At 25 years old, actress Mackenzie Foy already has quite an impressive number of credits to her name, including roles in such hit movies as Interstellar, The Conjuring, and Black Beauty. But as the Twilight fandom knows all too well, her first real brush with fame came as a result of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2.
Foy was just 10 years old when she played Renesmee, the vampire-human hybrid daughter of Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Bella (Kristen Stewart). Thanks to a CGI-enhanced vision from vampire Alice (Ashley Greene), viewers got to see what Renesmee would look like as a grown-up...but now, years later, fans are looking at the real-live adult Foy, and it seems everybody is saying the same thing.
Yes, we went to BellaSwan's house with #Renesmee herself. Yes, we will be thinking about this forever. ? Link in bio to read the full profile with 'Breaking Dawn' star MackenzieFoy. ✨
♬ Blue Foundation Eyes On Fire - JTHM1987?A recent behind-the-scenes video from a Teen Vogue photo shoot showed Foy posing in the house used as Bella Swan's home in Twilight, modeling a series of fall-themed fashions and looking every bit the ethereal creature she played in the films...but what fans really couldn't get over was how much Foy ended up looking like her digitally-enhanced future self.
"What's CRAZY is that their prediction of what she'd look like older is ACCURATE," one person wrote, with a second agreeing, "INSANE how accurate the versions of her grown up were."
"The fact that she actually looks like Kristen and Rob," another fan pointed out, with someone else noting, "She really got Bella's eyes and Edward's lips."
Mackenzie Foy never read any of the 'Twilight' books
In the interview with Teen Vogue that accompanied the photo shoot, Foy admitted that she's never actually read any of the Twilight books.
“I don’t have that many memories of Twilight, so, in a way, I don’t want to read the books because I want my association and memories to be my memories and not necessarily the story,” she explained, adding, “I’m trying to keep what I still remember as fresh in my head as possible.”
One of her favorite memories from the experience involved going on a hike through the trails behind her in Squamish, British Columbia, where she saw glacial water for the first time.
“I remember Lee Pace [the vampire Garrett] explaining how glacial runoff worked and what it was like, and then we went to the bottom of the stream and drank the water," Foy recalled.
Foy also revealed that she didn't really grasp the devotion of the Twilight fandom until long after she played Renesmee.
“I don’t think I understood the grand scheme of what fandoms were until I was older…and really hardcore into Teen Wolf, and I was like, I totally get it now. It’s a community and it brings so many people together...It’s really special to be part of, and in community with, this art," she said.
Overall, the experience was incredibly educational for the young actress.
“I'd never done a film before, so it was all very, very new. There was just a lot that I simply didn't know,” Foy said. “What are you supposed to do as an actor? How do you interact with the crew? How does it all come together? Because there's hundreds of people, a part of a crew, and everybody is trying to tell the same story.”
In the case of Twilight, that story is one people still want to hear...over and over again.
