A $20,000 grant will support financial assistance for children wanting to engage in Greeley Recreation’s youth sports and other educational programs.
The Weld Community Foundation, a community organization run by local volunteers that provides grants and scholarships, awarded the the grant from its Littler Youth Fund to Greeley Recreation’s Youth Assistance Fund.
“Making recreation accessible to everyone is at the heart of what we do,” Recreation Division Manager Daniel Lawrence said in a news release. “We’re grateful for the support from the Littler Youth Fund — it helps open doors for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate. I’m also proud of our team for continually finding creative ways to expand our programs and reach more youth in our community.”
The program, which is available to all Greeley residents ages 18 and under, provides financial assistance to children and families in need. Non-Greeley Weld County residents can also receive funds on a first-come, first-served basis.
Families who qualify for SNAP, WIC or CCCAP benefits can apply for the Youth Assistance Fund. So long as funds are available, qualified requests for assistance will be supported, according to the city.
Once qualification is confirmed, each approved participant will receive $150 in assistance, with the use of the funding dependent on the amount remaining in the fund.
