SAMS organizes first specialized Intensive Care training Program in Syria

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) has organized the first-ever specialized intensive care training program in Syria, aimed at enhancing the skills of intensive care physicians. The program, called POCAS, was held at the National University Hospital in Damascus.

Dr. Abdullah al-Hajji, the program supervisor, told SANA that the training is designed for 10 postgraduate physicians specializing in intensive care. The goal is to improve the participants’ ability to manage critical cases using portable echocardiography techniques.

This represents a major step forward in hands-on training and the rapid development of diagnostic skills, al-Hajji said. The initiative responds to the urgent need to improve the capabilities of intensive care units and address gaps in previous training.

Founded in 1998, SAMS is a non-profit humanitarian medical organization established by Syrian-American physicians. The organization is dedicated to providing healthcare and medical education in Syria and neighboring countries, with a mission to support communities affected by humanitarian crises.
