Major Rock Band Gets Show Canceled Over Resurfaced Controversy

Fans hoping to see Limp Bizkit live in Estonia next year will have to wait. The band’s May 31, 2026, concert at Unibet Arena has reportedly been canceled following backlash over lead singer Fred Durst’s past remarks supporting Russia and President Vladimir Putin.

The show’s Facebook event confirmed the cancelation, and the concert has also been removed from the promoter’s and venue’s websites.

"We inform you that due to circumstances beyond the organizer's control, the Limp Bizkit concert planned for May 31, 2026, is canceled. Our apologies," concert promoter Baltic Live Agency posted on social media. Tickets were originally expected to go on sale on November 17.

It remains unclear who specifically requested the show’s removal from the venue’s schedule, though the cancellation follows criticism from Estonian officials.

Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reportedly opposed the concert shortly after it was announced on November 7. A ministry media advisor told Estonian news agency ERR, “There is no place in Estonia for a supporter of an aggressor state. Estonia supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and the principle that every last centimeter of Ukrainian territory belongs to Ukraine.”

Durst’s controversial statements about Russia date back to 2015. That year, he was prohibited from entering Ukraine after voicing plans to move to Crimea, a region annexed by Russia in 2014.

During a radio interview in 2015, Durst shared that he hoped to become a Russian citizen, buy a house in Crimea and create movies about the region.

"How Russia is portrayed in the media is far from reality, and I want to prove to everyone that it's really cool!" he said.

Later, Radio Free Europe reported that Durst sent a letter to Crimean authorities in which he praised Putin. "I am sure that we can do many important things together and it will help Russia, and it will help people all around the world to understand that Putin is a great guy with clear moral principles and a nice person," he reportedly wrote.

Even the most loyal fans are divided over the concert's cancellation. Taking to Reddit, one user suggested, "This was 10 years ago. People change," while another wrote, "Well that's definitely a bad look."

The latest news comes shortly after the band mourned the loss of one of its founding members. Sam Rivers, who had played bass for Limp Bizkit since the band formed in 1994, passed away on October 18.

In a touching message, the band remembered Rivers as more than a bandmate, they called him their “brother” and “heartbeat.”

“Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat. Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound. From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous. We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there,” the tribute stated.

The bassist took a temporary break from the band in 2015 following a diagnosis of degenerative disc disease. He rejoined Limp Bizkit after several years away and later disclosed that he had stepped back due to liver disease, eventually undergoing a liver transplant.
