A man was struck and killed by a driver in suburban Park Ridge Friday morning, prompting a road closure in the area for several hours as authorities investigated.
Around 10:09 a.m. Friday, a driver struck a 55-year-old man in the intersection of Dempster Street and Potter Road in Park Ridge. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
Eastbound Dempster Street and northbound Potter Road were closed for an investigation, Park Ridge Police said in a post on social media after the crash.
As of 1:50 p.m., eastbound Dempster Street remained closed for the police investigation.
The MCAT Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Unit is assisting Park Ridge Police Department with the investigation.
