CSU men’s basketball adds three on signing day

Colorado State men’s basketball announced three signees to its 2026 recruiting class on national signing day Wednesday.

CSU introduced the trio of new Rams in a series of social media posts.

The most prolific of the signees is Gregory ‘Pops’ Dunson, a 6-foot, 185-pound guard from Alexander High School in Douglasville, Georgia.

A 3-star recruit by 247Sports, Dunson averaged 18 points, 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and a steal per game as a junior last season. He averaged 31.3 points per game and six assists per game in the Georgia state tournament.

CSU head coach Ali Farokhmanesh said Dunson is one of the toughest competitors the Rams’ staff saw in the class.

“He has great floor vision, which has led him to become an elite scorer,” Farokhmanesh said. “This dynamic combo shows off his poise under pressure in games.”

The second signee is staying close to home.

Eric Fiedler is a 6-foot-6, 200-pound wing from Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora. According to 247Sports, he is Colorado’s No. 2 recruit in the 2026 class.

“We are excited to keep the top prospect in the state home and coming to Fort Collins,” Farokhmanesh said. “He possesses an elite work ethic that has enabled him to develop into a skilled and versatile shot maker. He will not only thrill the fans in Moby (Arena), but be a leader on and off the court for the program.”

Fiedler averaged 24 points and 8 rebounds while making 51 3-pointers as a Class 6A all-state first team selection last season.

The last signee is Jaden Ghoreishi, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound wing/post from Mt. Spokane High School in Mead, Washington.

Farokhmanesh describes Ghoreishi as a dynamic athlete who consistently plays above the rim and has a great feel for the game that allows him to not only make plays for himself but also create for others.

Ghoreishi had a 24-point, 18-rebound game in the Washington state playoffs last season.

    Rams improve to 3-0

Josh Pascarelli scored a career-high 22 points and Colorado State made 16 3-pointers in a 93-79 victory over Cal Poly on Wednesday at Moby Arena to improve to 3-0.

Pascarelli was one of five Rams in double figures, making six of the team’s 3-pointers as CSU scored more than 90 points for the third straight game to begin the season.

“I think that’s the sign of a good team, is when you can win in a variety of ways. We have not won with our defense yet, but we’ve got to get there next,” Farokhmanesh said. “But for us to make 16 3s tonight … the other nights we’ve been at the foul line and finishing great from two, we knew it was going to be hard to score in the paint tonight because they’re a smaller team, so they just sit someone right in the middle pretty much the whole game.”

CSU led by 10 (47-37) at halftime, but the Mustangs were able to cut the Rams’ advantage to three points at 47-44 after opening the second half with a 7-0 run.

With just under 16 minutes left in the second half, after the Mustangs cut the CSU lead to 50-46, the Rams went on an 11-0 run to open up a 61-46 lead, and Cal Poly never got closer than nine after that.

CSU’s largest lead of the game was 91-69 with 2:46 left in the contest.

In addition to Pascarelli’s 22 points, Carey Booth had 15, Brandon Rechsteiner and Jase Butler 13 apiece, and Augustinas Kiudulas had 11. Booth also had 10 rebounds for his second double-double in four nights. He had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the Rams’ victory over Omaha on Sunday.
