Then, the actor said that he is set to receive his bachelor's degree by the spring of 2027, revealing that he is "finishing properly" and not getting an honorary degree (an academic award given by a university to recognize an individual's significant contributions to society, without requiring them to complete formal coursework or examinations). Pace then interrupts his co-star and asks him how he has the time to complete a degree, to which Powell responded that he is only taking six credits a semester.

He was attending class online while filming The Running Man last fall in London, and Powell said that director Edgar Wright has been "very nice about letting [him] finish [his] degree in the middle of his massive movie."
"I'll throw a massive graduation party if you guys want to tear it up in Austin," Powell said in the Variety clip, to which Brolin instantly replied, "Absolutely, man."
