Caleb Williams made magic happen at Soldier Field on Sunday.
So, of course he was going to get a game ball from Chicago Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson after the team’s come-from-behind win against the New York Giants. Cornerback Chauncey Gardner-Johnson got one, too. But let’s make no mistake about it — this was a signature game from QB1.
And as you might imagine, the postgame festivities inside the Bears locker room were absolutely lit:

Caleb Williams wills Bears to win No. 6
And just lke that, the Chicago Bears have surpassed their win total from the 2024 season. All it took was eight games. This team is also just one win away from matching the high-water mark of the Matt Eberflus era, which was seven wins in 2023. If this squad can win two more, it will match the most wins for this franchise since the 2020 season when it won eight games. Win four more? Well, dear reader, that would lock up the team’s first winning season since 2018.
And Caleb Williams is at the center of it all.
Chicago’s QB1 finished 20 of 36 fo 220 passing yards, a touchdown, and an 83.1 passer rating through the air. He also chipped in with 8 carries, 63 rushing yards, and the game-winning ground score. There is a lot to dissect from this one, and we’ll get to it throughout the week. In the end, I’ll leave with this: Caleb Williams is on pace to become the Bears’ first 4,000-yard passer. And yet, it won’t be his greatest accomplishment if he can push this team into the playoffs.
We’ll cross that bridge if and when we get to it. But at this point, we have to acknowledge the bridge, its existence, and the fact that the playoffs are on the other side.
