When French fans heard that a teenager was on the rise, two years ahead of schedule, the media immediately linked to names like Leon Marchand and Yannick Agnel, and skepticism turned into curiosity. Very quickly, curiosity became certainty: France wasn’t waiting for a savior; Sauveur Cristofini (his first name literally means “Savior”) arrived anyway. He has stepped onto the big stage and is here to stay.
In a blazing week at the French Short Course Championships, the 15-year-old Corsican earned his first selection to France’s senior team, landed three podiums (gold in the 400 free, silver in the 800 free, bronze in the 200 free), and stacked four personal bests in four swims.
Strategic, composed and already racing with notable maturity, Philippe Lucas’s protégé, who turns 16 on November 29, is staking his claim for the future, two years out from the Los Angeles Games: a breakdown of his championships.

At 15 years old, Cristofini has already turned potential into concrete results in long course:
European Junior Champion in the 4×200 free relay Euro Junior Finalist in the 200 free (1:48.75) Euro Junior Finalist in the 400 free (3:49.61)“We mustn’t skip steps, but if he keeps going like this, with no setbacks and staying serious, in a year and a half he can do a lot of damage.” Philippe Lucas
Cristofini, alongside his coach Philippe Lucas, in Martigues. Away from the pool, he enjoys chess, reading, fishing and playing guitar.
Conclusion. See you in Australia in 2032? Not for him. He is “a little more in a hurry.”
His main objective? “Go to the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, then be champion.” At 15, that might sound oversized. After his week in Taverny, it looks possible
His next step will be the 2025 European Short Course Championships, which kick off in less than a month’s time in Lublin, Poland, from December 2-7.
