DAILY NEWS TOP 10 FINAL RANKINGS, NOV. 3
season is here. It’s win or go home now.
Sierra Canyon and Birmingham Charter are in 8-team fields of their respective sections, which means both programs don’t play until November 14 (due to first-round byes). However, every other team in the Top 10 will lace ‘em up this Friday.
CIF championships in the Southern and City Sections are scheduled for Nov. 28-29. The Southern Section Division 1 final (at the Rose Bowl) is set for Nov. 28, and City Open Division final (LA Southwest College) will be played on Nov. 29.
1. Sierra Canyon (10-0): The Trailblazers finish the regular season undefeated and among the Top 10 nationally in various polls/rankings. Sierra Canyon earned the No. 4 seed in the Division 1 playoffs and will host Santa Margarita in the opening round after a bye week. | vs. Santa Margarita, Nov. 14
2. Valencia (9-1): The Vikings win another Foothill League title and earn a berth to the Division 3 playoffs. | vs. Palos Verdes
3. Westlake (10-0): Rick Clausen completes the storybook turnaround, taking an 0-10 team and making them 10-0 in his first season at the helm. The playoff draw in D4 is a tough one, though. | vs. Villa Park
4. Notre Dame (5-5): The Knights win their season finale over Chaminade which helps them achieve a .500 record and likely helped to earn an at-large berth in Division 3. | vs. Laguna Beach
5. Chaminade (5-5): Despite a Week 10 loss to Notre Dame, the Eagles finish their Mission League campaign in second place. Now, they’ll have to drive to Temecula in the first round of Division 2. | at Chaparral
6. Agoura (8-2): The Chargers go 5-0 in the Tri County League and will host its first-round playoff game in Division 6. How far can QB Gavin Gray take Agoura? | vs. Summit
7. Hart (7-3): Hart was placed in Division 7, which could be a favorable draw for the second-place Foothill League finisher. All eyes will be on QB Jacob Paisano. | vs. Mayfair
8. Crespi (10-0): The pressure is on the Celts, who earned the No. 1 seed in Division 6. No question, their biggest test will come this postseason after gliding through the regular season – maybe too easily. | vs. Roosevelt
9. Paraclete (8-2): The Spirits finish second in the Angelus League behind Cathedral and will be in Division 4 after eeking out a win over struggling St. Paul, 43-42, last week. | at Long Beach Wilson
