Oakland vs Purdue vs Cincinnati

Purdue earned wins over both Cincinnati and Oakland on both sides while Oakland and Cincinnati split with the Oakland men earning the win in the Cincinnati women taking the win.
Women’s Highlights
Purdue won a total of 15 out of the 19 events on the weekend. Sophomore Lara Phipps swam to two individual wins and helped Purdue to three relay wins. She swam to a 53.86 in the 100 butterfly, a time that makes her the #9 performer in school history. She also swam to a 49.26 in the 100 free leading a 1-2-3 finish for the Boilermakers, which makes her the #4 performer in school history.
Phipps swam on the team’s 400 free relay that included Caitlin Hurley, Adele Sands, and Hannah Hill as they touched in a 3:18.43 for the win. Phipps and Hill swam on the winning 400 medley relay with Abby Marcukaitis and Meghan Sharma who won in a 3:39.06. Phipps, Hill, and Hurley swam alongside Ana Rojas for the 200 free relay win in a 1:31.59.
Marcukaitis swam to her own win posting a 53.33 in the 100 back while Hill swam to a win in the 50 free with a 23.17.
Also highlighting the weekend for Purdue was Hurley who also entered her name in the all-time rankings for Purdue as she swam to a 1:46.62 in the 200 free making her the #10 performer in school history. She earned the win in the event and dropped over a second from her previous best of a 1:47.90 that she swam in January during a dual meet. Hurley also won the 500 free in a 4:48.62 and was second behind teammate Reagan Mattice in the 1000 free who won in a 9:54.82.
Cincinnati was led by NCAA All-American Joleigh Crye who swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast in a 1:00.32 and the 200 in a 2:13.68. Crye was 4th in the 100 breast at the 2025 NCAA Championships in a 58.11. Crye also helped Cincinnati to a win in the 200 medley relay as the team of Ellie Schrank, Crye, Katie Mardis, and Sonja Aarsvold swam to a 1:38.71 in the win.
Oakland’s Lydia Soldatke posted a new pool record to highlight the Grizzlies. She swam to a 1:56.09 in the 200 backstroke for her win. The freshman arrived this fall with a lifetime best 1:56.49 in the event.

The Purdue men also dominated the meet, winning a total of 13 out of 19 events, including all four relays. Freshman Biko Hooper-Haviland earned a win in the 200 butterfly posting a 1:45.84. That swim marked a Purdue freshman record and also already sits at #9 all-time for the Boilermakers.
Swimming the #3 time in program history for Purdue was Blake Rowe who swam to a win in the 200 back with a 1:41.95. His previous best was a 1:42.38 that he swam last December at the US Open. Rowe also earned wins in the 100 fly (47.90) and teamed up with Jonah Lee, Alex Hotta, and Janis Dzirkalis for a win in the 400 medley relay with a 3:10.38.
The freshman Dzirkalis showed off his speed, earning wins in the 50 free (19.83) and 100 free (43.41). He was slightly faster last month to open the season at Florida State posting a 19.56 50 free and a 43.29 then.
In addition to swimming on the winning 400 medley relay, Dzirkalis also swam on the team’s 200 and 400 free relays that earned wins. Dzirkalis, Hotta, Nathaniel Thomas, and Dylan Burauswam to a 2:55.80 to win the 400 free relay while Dzirkalis, Hotta, and Thomas swam with Andy Kelly for the win in the 200 free relay with a 1:18.90. Hotta also earned an individual win on the weekend with a 47.07 in the 100 back.
Purdue’s Evan Mackesy earned two individual wins, touching first in the 400 IM in a 3:49.62 as well as in the 500 free with a 4:26.06. He has been as fast as 3:45.72 in the 400 IM as well as a 4:23.28 in the 500 free, both of which he swam at the 2025 Big Ten Championships.
The Oakland men were led by senior Chris Palvadre who swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast in a 52.70 and the 200 breast in a 1:56.77. Palvadre won the Horizon League Championship title in both events this past season with a 52.83 in the 100 and a 1:55.33 in the 200.
Also earning two wins for Oakland was Karel Subagyo as he won the 200 free in a 1:35.42, winning by over two seconds. He also swam to a 9:16.81 in the 1000 free for the win. His 200 free was a personal best as his previous best was a 1:36.66 that he swam for 4th at the 2025 Horizon League Championships.
Cincinnati was led by Owen Chiles as he swam to a win in the 200 IM in a 1:48.58. The sophomore has been as fast at 1:45.57 that he swam in prelims of the 2025 Big 12 Championships to earn a spot in the ‘A’ final.
