The final session of the 2026 YMCA Long Course National Championships wrapped up the week with several thrilling races as the final set of Championship titles were handed out on Saturday night. Greater Spartanburg closed out the meet in style, claiming two relay victories and adding another individual title from Jimmy Beeson, while York’s William Rees continued his dominant championship with another national crown.

Upper Main Line YMCA capped off a dominant championship by claiming the combined team title with 1,235.5 points, leading the field from start-to-finish. Greater Spartanburg YMCA finished 2nd overall with 1,003 points, while the YMCA of the Jersey Shore placed 3rd with 858 points. Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA and Greater Somerset County YMCA rounded out the top five with 842.5 and 830.5 points, respectively.

Combined Team Scores

In the girl’s team race, Lakeland Hills Family YMCA held on to claim the national title with 615 points. Upper Main Line YMCA finished 2nd with 572.5 points, while the YMCA of the Jersey Shore narrowly followed in 3rd with 561.5 points. Greater Spartanburg YMCA placed 4th with 410 points, followed by York and York County YMCA in 5th with 347.5 points.

Girl’s Team Scores

The boy’s team race came down to the final points, with Upper Main Line YMCA narrowly holding off Greater Somerset County YMCA to capture the championship. Upper Main Line finished atop the standings with 663 points, just 8.5 points ahead of Greater Somerset County’s 654.5-point total. Greater Spartanburg YMCA placed 3rd with 593 points, while Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA and Wilton Family YMCA rounded out the top five.

Boy’s Team Scores

The distance events kicked off the final session, with Ellison Charette of Greenwich capturing the girls’ 1500 freestyle title in 17:19.28. The 17-year-old dropped more than 17 seconds from her entry time to secure the victory, leading a tightly packed podium. Caroline Curtin of North Shore finished 2nd in 17:22.44 after lowering her seed time by nearly nine seconds, while Mary Greene of Foothills rounded out the podium in 17:29.78.

The boys’ 1500 freestyle saw Kyle Burk continue his impressive championship, as the Ridley Area swimmer claimed another national title in 16:00.20. Burk dropped more than 20 seconds from his entry time to finish over eight seconds ahead of the field. York placed two swimmers on the podium, with Charlie Brown finishing 2nd in 16:08.21 and 14-year-old Damien Orfanoudakis producing one of the biggest improvements of the event to take 3rd in 16:18.21.

Isabelle Schroeder of Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA sprinted to the national title in the girl’s 50 freestyle, hitting the wall in a time of 26.53. Schroeder improved by eight-tenths from prelims to edge Brynn Lewis of Phoenixville, who finished 2nd in 26.60. Sydney VanDeBoe of the YMCA of the Jersey Shore rounded out the podium in 26.69.

The boys’ 50 freestyle was another thrilling sprint battle, as Jimmy Beeson added another national title to his already impressive meet. The Greater Spartanburg swimmer touched first in 23.74. Charles O’Hara of Upper Main Line finished 2nd in 23.88, while Spartanburg teammate Maddex Ternes claimed 3rd in 23.92.

Claire Burns posted a breakout performance in the girls’ 200 IM, becoming the only swimmer under the 2:20 barrier with her winning time of 2:19.73. The 16-year-old dropped nearly three seconds from prelims to capture the national title. Serena Dickey of Lakeland Hills added another medal to her impressive week, finishing 2nd in 2:22.46, while Aivleen Walsh of York claimed 3rd in 2:22.88.

One of the closest races of the championship came in the boys’ 200 IM, where William Rees narrowly held off Cullen Cashman by just one-tenth of a second. Rees touched first in 2:05.76 after dropping nearly two seconds from prelims, while Cashman produced a huge finals swim to finish in 2:05.86. Brayden Hale of Cheshire rounded out the podium in 2:08.08.

The girls’ 400 medley relay delivered another dramatic finish, as Lakeland Hills narrowly edged Greater Spartanburg by just 0.06 seconds. The team of Vicky Sluk, Alexia Davies, Serena Dickey, and Madison Kehoe combined for a winning time of 4:18.05 after dropping nearly seven seconds from their entry time. Greater Spartanburg’s squad of Bella Stewart, Grace Hunt, Claire Burns, and Ansley Brinkman finished 2nd in 4:18.11, while the YMCA of the Jersey Shore claimed 3rd in 4:18.80 behind Ava Aguanno, Emma Price, Maya Freeman, and Katherine Kennedy.

Closing out the championship, Greater Spartanburg captured the boys’ 400 medley relay title as Owen DuBose, Will Lancaster, Jimmy Beeson, and Maddex Ternes combined for a winning time of 3:50.23. The relay dropped more than three seconds from its entry time to finish nearly three seconds ahead of the field. Greater Somerset County finished 2nd in 3:53.31 behind Christopher Wasko, Ryan Cervino, Jack Thompson, and Domingo Gatti, while Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA rounded out the podium in 3:53.50 with Michael Metz, Charlie Hambidge, Luke Mignery, and Will Klosterman.
