Allow me to get out in front of this by saying that Charles Tillman should end up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame regardless of the graphic I am about to share at the top of this post. But with that being said, I feel as if this graphic is the type of thing that should help Peanut’s Hall of Fame push.
A friend sent me this as part out our regular Saturday yap session, and I couldn’t stop thinking about how Charles Tillman’s Hall of Fame case is made with this graphic:
A friend sent me this graphic and said: “This could put Peanut Tillman in the Hall of Fame just based on this graphic.” And you know what … they’re right![image or embed]

Charles Tillman’s Pro Football Hall of Fame case
Charles Tillman was one of the best cornerbacks of his era. It boggles my mind that he had only two Pro Bowls and one first-team All-Pro nod to his name over the course of his 13-year career. To be clear, I am not trying to diminish the efforts, accomplishments, and achievements of his peers during that era. Instead, I’d like to shine light on Peanut’s greatness. And I am not sure there is a better bit of evidence than Tillman’s stats in the head-to-head matchup against Detroit Lions legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson.
These numbers are bonkers when you isolate them:
Catch percentage per target: 50.0 percent Yards per target: 6.2 percent Interceptions + Pass Breakups per target: 17.6 percent Passer rating: 85.1 percentCalvin Johnson and Charles Tillman had some great head-to-head battles over the years. And Peanut more than held his own against the Hall of Famer. So on top of all of the other accolades that Tillman earned throughout his 168-game playing career, his efforts when going one-on-one with a great one like Megatron should be baked into the Pro Football Hall of Fame discussion that voters will have in the years to come.

Charles Tillman was one of four former Chicago Bears players who advanced in the most recent round of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s voting process. Tillman is joined by former teammates center Olin Kreutz, offensive lineman Ruben Brown, and tight end Greg Olsen. As is often the case with these Hall of Fame classes, this one is stacked with stars.
Full disclosure: I am struggling to see a path for Peanut getting into the Hall of Fame this year. However, that does not mean he doesn’t have a case or is unworthy of Hall of Fame consideration. It just means that he has a tougher road than some of his other classmates. Besides, if a Hall of Fame was easy to get into, would you want to be a part of it? Ultimately, my hope is that Charles Tillman continues to make it further in the process each year. The more he is on the ballot and the deeper he goes, the better his odds will be down the line.
There figures to be a point where the Pro Football Hall of Fame voters will have no choice but to let him in and celebrate his great career. In the meantime, we will do our best to continue spreading the word of Peanut’s excellence.
