Unbelievable Ending, Ground Rules, Winner About to Take All, and Other Cubs Bullets

The Bulls won AGAIN. That’s 5-0 to start the season. Are they just, like, a good basketball team? Should I be paying more attention to them?

If the Dodgers go on to win this World Series, that 9th inning from Game Six is going to haunt Blue Jays fans forever. Two freak plays – flukes, mistakes, whatever you want to call them – turned what could’ve been a suddenly tie game into a loss. One, not the Blue Jays fault and couldn’t have been avoided. One that certainly could have. Both working in concert to end the game:

GAME ENDING DOUBLE PLAY! THERE WILL BE A GAME SEVEN TOMORROW NIGHT! pic.twitter.com/dtWrxULKEG

    — FOX Sports: MLB (@MLBONFOX) November 1, 2025 If that ball does not hit the turf at just the perfectly precise spot and angle, how differently does everything play out? I would NOT want to be a Blue Jays fan today, asking myself that question, and then having to think about what might happen in Game Seven. Seriously, I just let myself really sink into the mental shoes of a Blue Jays fan right now, and I feel queasy. Glad my team isn’t in the World Series! (er, well … ok, maybe that’s a bit too much … ) You don’t see the ole outfielder-arms-up-hey-it’s-a-dead-ball thing in too many other ballparks, but obviously we’re very familiar with it at Wrigley Field. Every field has its own ground rules, and at Rogers Centre, any ball that gets wedged into the outfield padding is a double. Everything there was by the book, and the correct move by Dodgers outfielders. Sucks for the Blue Jays, but it was correctly called based on the current Rogers Centre rules (which can change each year, by the way). As for getting doubled off, Addison Barger said after the game that it was just a bad read by him off the bat. He thought the ball was dropping in. The expected starters for tonight’s Game Seven are Shohei Ohtani and Max Scherzer, just a couple future Hall of Famers. The leashes will probably be extremely short, with pretty much every other pitcher on the roster available. This is it, you know? The Dodgers are trying to become the first MLB team to win back-to-back titles in a quarter century. And ruin baseball, or whatever Dave Roberts said. It is our first Game Seven in the World Series since 2019(!), so it’s been a minute since we got one of these. Nationals topped the Astros that year, and the Dodgers topped the Astros in the infamous 2017 World Series for the last Game Seven before that one. And the one before that? Well, I’m pretty sure you know. Every Game Seven in World Series history right here if you want to stroll down memory/history lane. Hey, I know that guy:
