SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- A fire in San Jose Thursday night ripped through an apartment complex carport before spreading to the residential building.
The fire broke out around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex at 918 Del Mar Avenue, south of Interstate 280 near South Bascom Avenue, according to the San Jose Fire Department. Three vehicles in the complex’s carport were completely destroyed by the intense flames.
Fire crews managed to save part of the apartment complex, but not before flames damaged at least three units, SFFD Battalion Chief Jason Bivens said. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the department’s arson unit.
