AJ Alfeo, a finalist at the 2025 Justin Sectionals, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas beginning in the fall of 2026.

A Texas native, Alfeo is currently completing his senior year through Acellus Academy, an online K-12 school. He trains year-round with Metroplex Aquatics, where he has proven himself to be a versatile threat in the water, primarily excelling at the longer distances of free, fly and IM.
Early last season, Alfeo posted a string of top times at the Metro Jennifer Looney Memorial Meet in December. Alfeo won the 1000 free (9:53.53), 100 fly (52.16), 200 IM (1:59.76) and 400 IM (4:11.00) and took 2nd in the 100 back (57.69), posting personal best times in each event. He also won the 100 breast (1:03.48), marking a season-best, and 200 fly (1:55.96).
Alfeo improved three of those times even further at the 43rd Annual Greater Southwest Meet a month later. He clocked new lifetime best times in the 200 fly (1:53.57), 200 IM (1:59.63) and 400 IM (4:09.97).
Alfeo turned in a handful of top performances at the 2025 Speedo Sectionals in Justin, earning a second swim in two events and clocking a new lifetime best almost every time he hit the water. He placed 28th in the 200 fly in a best time of 1:52.34 and placed 38th in the 400 IM in 4:06.71 after posting a best time of 4:06.48 during prelims. Alfeo also posted a lifetime best in the 100 fly (51.16) and in the 50 free (22.77) as the leadoff on the 200 free relay.

The men’s team won the 2025 New South Championships, a jump up from their 3rd-place finish the year prior. A smaller conference, the New South Championships featured just four men’s programs last season.
Based on the results from the 2025 championship, Alfeo would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 200 fly and the ‘B’ final in the 500 free and 400 IM. He also would have placed 11th in the 1000 free, setting him up to be a strong contributor right from the start.
“I chose OBU because it has everything I was looking for: a smaller school with a competitive team that will help me reach my swim goals, excellent coaching, a positive team and school environment, and an outstanding School of Business/finance,” Alfeo said.
Currently set to join Alfeo in the pool next fall are Cage Bready (breast/fly/IM) and Chase Gluck (breast/free/IM), who should make for strong training partners over the next four years.
