Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

High school senior Sofia Oliveira from Ashland, Massachusetts, has made a verbal pledge to Duke University for the 2027-28 school year. At the time of her commitment, she wrote on social media:

“I am beyond excited and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Duke University! I am extremely grateful for my family, friends, and teammates for all their support, and to Coach Jon and Coach Sandro for helping me get to where I am today. I would also like to thank Coach Brian and the entire coaching staff at Duke for giving me this incredible opportunity. Go Blue Devils!! ”

Oliveira swims for Charles River Aquatics and specializes mainly in sprint freestyle. We named her a “Best of the Rest” recruit on our list of top girls’ swimmers from the high school class of 2027. She is coming off a strong summer that culminated in six top-8 finishes at Austin Futures. She was runner-up in the 50 free, 200 free, and 200 IM, 4th in the 50 fly and 100 free, and 8th in the 100 fly. She clocked lifetime bests in the 50 free (25.84), 100 free (56.56), 200 free (2:02.72), 50 fly (27.42), and 200 IM (2:19.33). In June, she had gone best times in the 100 back (1:04.28), 200 back (2:19.50), and 100 fly (1:02.06) at the EAC Independence Invitational.

In short course yards, Oliveira notched PBs in the 50 free (23.07) and 200 back (1:58.56) at a December Invite, then closed out the season with a big meet at Ithaca Sectionals. There, she finished 3rd in the 50 free (23.07), 4th in the 100 free (50.12), 1st in the 100 free (1:47.53), 3rd in the 100 back (55.32), 3rd in the 200 back (1:59.94), 3rd in the 100 fly (54.64), and 2nd in the 200 IM (2:03.22). She took home new PBs in the 100 free (50.12), 100 back (55.32), and 100 fly (54.60).

In the last year, Oliveira has dropped .3 in the 50 free, 1.8 in the 100 back, 8 in the 200 back, and .8 in the 100 fly.
