“I was speaking with him whilst there was this rumour. I think he was a little disappointed. It's normal. He had just won the Champions League whilst being one of the season's most important players. I think they won a Champions League largely thanks to him. But after, it's also Luis Enrique's decision. He always wants to change. He always wants to show that nobody is untouchable,” confided the 32-year-old player, today at Al-Duhail in Qatar.

Despite this sad departure and all Marco Verratti's compassion, the Italy international (55 caps) believes that joining Manchester City is excellent news for Donnarumma, who has signed for a competitive team. “I think he landed well at Manchester City in the Premier League, a new league. I think for his experience, it will be incredible.”
