ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Regional Health and the Rochester Police Department teamed up this Halloween to ensure families stay safe and healthy.
Officials urged parents to make sure children wear reflective clothing, especially with rain forecasted for Thursday night. Visibility is crucial for safety.
“There’s little kids running around everywhere… adults even if you don’t have kids, we can all work tomorrow night to keep the kids safe and have a great night of trick or treating,” said Capt. Greg Bello from the Rochester Police Department.
According to the National Safety Council, children are more than twice as likely to be hit by a car and killed on Halloween more than any other day of the year.
Multiple police agencies planned to be out on Thursday night to keep the roads safe. They also reminded everyone not to drink and drive.
The city’s entertainment district will be open and patrolled to ensure a safe environment for all.
