Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry lashed out at agents and their influence on the sport of college football during a press conference on Wednesday when he also discussed LSU‘s coaching search.
While stating that LSU athletic director Scott Woodward wouldn’t be the one to hire Brian Kelly‘s replacement, Landry also went after agents and their power in shaping college football. Landry doesn’t like it that several athletic directors and coaches are represented by the same agent, and he let everyone know it on Wednesday.
“Look at who represents all these people, like all these agents,” Landry said. “You know what’s interesting? Woodward’s agent, Kelly’s agent, they all have the same agent. Like this is ridiculous. All of you would be disbarred by the way these agents act. They may represent some of the players now. It’s time for the NCAA to put some guardrails in college sports.”
Landry was furious at the state of the sport as LSU is undergoing a whirlwind in the past 3 days since the firing of Kelly. While he was angry at the agents’ newfound influence on college football, Landry also said that LSU’s Board of Supervisors, not Woodward, would pick a committee and find the school’s next head football coach.
