Early confirmed the news in an email to SwimSwam, writing:

I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at Emory University. I would like to give a big thank you to everyone who helped in my recruiting process including my family, friends, and teachers for giving me guidance that has helped shape who I am. A huge thank you to my coaches Emmett, Heather, Coach Blank and Greg, and especially coach Jon at Manhattan Makos. Finally, thank you to Coach Howell at Emory for giving me this opportunity to take my swimming career to the next level. GO EAGLES!

Early is sprint freestyle specialist, but is also competitive in the 100 butterfly and 200 free.

The future Eagle’s first target meet of the 2024-25 season was the PAA Thanksgiving Classic in November, where she won the 50 free, took second in the 100 and 200 free, and finished seventh in two off events, the 100 fly and 200 IM. In the 50, she swam a season-best 23.82 en route to victory, while she clocked lifetime bests of 51.72 and 1:54.03 in the 100 and 200 free. She also posted personal bests of 59.48 and 2:11.02 in her off events.

A month later at the EEX Holiday Classic, Early followed up with times of 23.98 and 52.02 in the freestyle events, just shy of her marks from the Thanksgiving Classic. Her 50 free earned her third place while she settled for fifth in the 100. She went on to trim three-tenths from her best in the 200 free, finishing sixth in 1:53.73. She also stopped the clock at 59.70 in the 100 fly, just over two-tenths off her best, to take 30th.

Come the high school season in February, Early competed at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championships, where she earned a pair of top-eight finishes in the sprint events, placing seventh in the 50 free and eighth in the 100 free. She was just two hundredths off her best in the 50 at 23.84 and 14 hundredths off in the 100 with a 51.86.

She split 23.30 to help Peddie’s 200 medley relay take silver and led off the seventh-place 400 free relay in a near-PB of 51.79, faster than her individual swim. Her 50 free best time of 23.81 stems from the 2024 edition of the Eastern Interscholastic meet; she finished third in the 50 and 10th in the 100.

Early concluded her season at Speedo Sectionals in March, where she remained consistent with times of 23.88 and 51.82 in the 50 and 100 free, securing 15th and 17th overall. She also hit the wall 34th in the 200 free (1:54.02) and logged a career-best 59.46 in the 100 fly, stopping the clock 85th in that event.

    Top SCY Times: 50 Freestyle: 23.81 100 Freestyle: 51.72 200 Freestyle: 1:53.73 100 Butterfly: 59.46

Emory is led by head coach Jon Howell, who has been at the helm of the program since 1998. Last spring, the team claimed its 26th consecutive University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship title and then finished fifth at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Early will have an immediate impact for the Eagles at the conference meet, where ‘A’, ‘B’, and ‘C’ finals are scored. Last season, her bests would have put her seventh in the 50 free after prelims—enough for the ‘A’ final—while she would have ranked 10th in the 100 free to make the ‘B’ final, just 0.21 outside the 51.51 required for top eight. Her 200 free and 100 fly times would have placed her 21st and 24th, respectively, slotting into the ‘C’ finals of those races.

On the team’s 2024-25 depth chart, Early would have ranked fifth in the 100 free, seventh in the 50 free, 11th in the 200 free, and 17th in the 100 fly.

Early joins Charlotte Brown, Alisa Huang, Rebecca Fury, and Sarah Wahl in committing to the Eagles’ class of 2030.
