ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert is now up for a soaking rain and gusty winds arriving Thursday and Friday. Thursday will be the wetter day, with a steady moderate to heavy rain at times, especially during the first half of the day. Flooding isn’t likely, but we may see ponding on roads and underpasses, and storm drains that become clogged with leaves may also produce some street flooding.
Rainfall amounts on Thursday may reach 1″ for parts of the area. Winds will gust to near 30 mph, but isn’t expected to produce power outages. Friday will be another windy and wet day, but the rain will be more hit and miss. Meanwhile, winds will be a little gustier, with some gusts pushing 40 mph. Again, this shouldn’t be enough to produce power outages, but it’ll be tricky for the Trick or Treaters on Friday evening.
Stay with the First Alert Weather team on air and online for updates on timing of the heaviest rain and strongest winds.
Before then, we’ll see another frosty morning on Wednesday, with temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s to kick off the day. We’ll also see dry weather and a good deal of sun on Wednesday. Highs will reach into the lower 50s, which isn’t too far off of our average high for this time of the year.
