Texas A&M vs SMU
October 24-25, 2025 Dallas, Texas SCY (25 yards) Full Meet Results Team Scores: Women: Texas A&M 209 – 140 SMU Men: #17 Texas A&M 204 – #25 146 SMUTexas A&M and SMU went head-to-head in a two-day dual meet over the weekend. The Aggies came out on top of both meets, defeating the Mustangs by 60 points in both meets.
Women’s recap
Texas A&M won most of the events over the two-day meet, starting with a victory in the first individual event of the meet with Rachel Love’s victory in the 1000 freestyle. She touched in 10:04.82 to beat SMU’s Karly Boles by nearly four seconds.
5th year Kaitlyn Owens won two events over the meet, the 100 back and the 50 free. In the 100 back, she swam a new season best 53.27. This swim was about two tenths over the 53.00 she swam this weekend last year.
In the 50, Owens touched in 22.48 to beat SMU’s Maddy Parker by three tenths. She set a new season best and was two tenths faster than this time last year when she swam 22.83.
Senior Giulia Goerigk took the 200 IM (2:00.71) and 400 IM (4:13.24) for the Aggies. Both swims were off her season best times from the USC Invite.
The other two individual event winners for A&M were Katie Walker in the 500 free (4:56.61) and Ava Whitaker in the 100 fly (53.07). Both have been faster in the event this season.
The day two relay events both went to the Aggies. They won the 200 medley relay with the team of Kaitlyn Owens (24.01), Victoria Taylor (28.20), Ava Whitaker (23.88), and Ella McQuinn (21.86) swam 1:37.95 for the win.
The 400 free relay was the last event of the meet, and Ella McQuinn (49.12), Kaitlyn Owens (48.50), Reagan Sherrard (50.01), and Eloise Williamson (49.79) beat the SMU ‘A’ team by just three hundredths of a second, swimming 3:17.42 to SMU’s 3:17.45.
The Aggie women also won both diving events with Joslyn Oakley taking the 1-Meter at 267.60, and Gabby Filzen winning the 3-Meter in 283.50.
SMU had a few event winners of their own. Izzy Krantzcke swept both breaststroke events. She swam 1:01.22 in the 100 and 2:13.73 in the 200, setting new season best times in both. She was about four tenths off her lifetime best in the 200 of 2:13.33 and three tenths off her best in the 100 of 1:00.95.
The Mustangs also won the other two 200s of stroke. Jimena Leal took the 200 back in 1:56.74, a new season best and about a second off her lifetime best of 1:55.72. Freshman AnneMarie Vlaic won the 200 fly in 1:58.78, a new season best time. She was about a second-and-a-half off her lifetime best of 1:57.12 from January of 2024.
Maddy Parker won the 100 free in 48.87, a new season best time and a tenth faster than her 48.98 from this weekend last year.
Parker was also a crucial member of both of SMU’s winning relays. She led off the 200 free relay in 22.66. Summer Osborne was 2nd (22.10), Chloe Corbin was 3rd (22.73), and Madeleine Hebert anchored (22.69) to bring the team home in 1:30.18.
She also swam free on the medley relay. Jimena Leal led off in 53.99. Izzy Krantzcke was 1:00.43 on the breast. AnneMarie Vlaic swam the fly in 54.01, and Parker anchored in 48.51 to touch in a final time of 3:36.94.
Men’s Recap
Munzy Kabarra led the A&M men’s team with two event wins in the IM events. He swam 1:45.69 in the 200 IM, touching two seconds ahead of teammate Logan Brown. This swim was a new season best time, and was about two seconds off the 1:43.87 from the Art Adamson Invite last November.
He also won the 400 IM in 3:48.52, two seconds off his season best time of 3:46.75 from the USC Invite earlier this month.
Kabarra finished 3rd in the 1000 freestyle, which went to A&M teammate Bucky Gettys in 9:01.61. This swim was also only a tenth off the 9:01.52 best time he set in March of 2024.
The Aggies swept the podium in the 1000 with Batuhan Filiz touching 2nd in 9:01.92. Filiz also won the 500 freestyle in 4:23.38. Filiz was about half-a-second off his season best 4:22.86 from the USC Invite and was a second-and-a-half over his lifetime best of 4:21.90 from March of 2023.
The short freestyle events also went to A&M with a pair of Bens splitting the wins. Ben Sytsma won the 100 in 43.87, two tenths ahead of the rest of the field. This swim was a new season best time, and was about half-a-second off his lifetime best of 43.19 from March.
Sytsma finished 2nd in the 50 free to teammate Ben Scholl, who touched in 19.87. He was four tenths faster on the leadoff leg of the winning 200 free relay, where he split 19.42.
He was joined on the relay by Jack Madoch (19.75), Chase Swearingen (19.65), and Ben Sytsma (19.66), who all came together to swim 1:18.48.
Swearingen won the 100 fly in 46.61, a bit off his season best of 45.94 from last weekend against TCU.
The 200 fly went to freshman Alejandro Michelena in 1:45.71. Michelena won the event by a little more than a second over teammate AJ Robinson’s 1:47.18.
The breaststroke events were also split by the Aggies with Roberto Bonilla Flores winning the 100 in 53.73 and Logan Brown won the 200 in 1:54.82.
Brown was also on the Aggies winning 200 medley relay, swimming the breaststroke leg in 24.17. Jack Madoch swam backstroke in 22.12. Swearingen swam the fly in 20.66, and Ben Scholl was on the freestyle in 18.85 to finish in 1:25.80..
The Mustangs took both backstroke events, both diving events, two of the relays, and the 200 freestyle.
Jack Berube won the 100 back in 47.32, more than a second ahead of teammate Andy Baklanov in 2nd. He also won the 200 back in a season best 1:43.07. He set a new season best time and was about three seconds off his lifetime best of 1:40.37 from March of last year.
Francis Brennan won the 200 free in 1:36.73, and Luke Sitz won both diving events scoring 359.03 on the 1-Meter and 375.23 on the 3-Meter.
The two longer relays went to the Mustangs as well. The 400 free relay team of Benjamin Chateigner (43.56), Harold Lockhart (47.38), Francis Brennan (43.49), and Sage Sungail (43.23) swam 2:54.06 for the win.
The 400 medley team touched first in 3:10.81 with Jack Berube (46.85), Kristaps Mikelsons (53.49), Sage Sungail (47.41), and Benjamin Chateigner (43.06).

Both teams will swim next on October 30th, with SMU hosting Arizona and TCU in a two day meet, while the Aggies will travel to Houston to race the University of Houston.
