Shania Twain is setting the record straight after she famously dissed Brad Pitt in her 1997 hit song “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
“We’ve never met,” the singer, 60, revealed during a Sunday, October 26, interview on the Wood and Woody radio show. “And I mean, you know, there’s a lot of Hollywood celebrities I haven’t met. He must be impressed with that, though, you know?”
Twain memorably mentioned Pitt, 61, in “That Don’t Impress Me Much” as she listed qualities about men that don’t wow her.
“OK, so you’re Brad Pitt,” she sang. “That don’t impress me much.”

Despite name-dropping Pitt, Twain emphasized his inclusion in the song was not personal, explaining that she chose him while writing the hit because Playgirl had recently obtained nude photos of him.
“I was thinking, ‘OK, everybody in the world is in love with Brad Pitt right now,’” she recalled. “There were nude photos out of him, and everyone was gaga over that. And I’m thinking, ‘OK, if there is anyone that is making an impression on anyone …’ That’s why I picked on him.”
Nearly three decades after the song’s release, the lyric about Pitt remains iconic. While Twain has never heard from the actor personally, she is willing to discuss the matter with him.
“Like, he can seek me out, right?” she noted. “He certainly doesn’t have to try very hard. I’m sure he’s got a very good sense of humor.”
Indeed, Pitt appears to have taken Twain’s shout-out in stride. In 2023, he made light of Twain replacing his name with Ryan Reynolds during a live performance of “That Don’t Impress Me Much.”
“He didn’t steal [my thunder]. I think we can share the wealth there,” Pitt told The Hook at the time. “Ryan’s a good egg too. He deserves some love.”

“I think we ought to pass it on down and next time she ought to sing it to Austin Butler,” he said. “Maybe Leo [DiCaprio] in between, then Austin Butler.”
