Anthony Hopkins has spent decades in Hollywood making a name for himself, but he's kept his private life out of the spotlight.
However, the Oscar winner is putting it all on the line for his upcoming memoir,We Did OK, Kid, in which no topic was off limits, including his estranged relationship with his only child, Abigail.

Speaking with The New York Times about his memoir, Hopkins admitted that Abigail recently ignored an invitation from his wife of 22 years, Stella.
“My wife, Stella, sent an invitation [to Abigail] to come and see us. Not a word of response. So I think, okay, fine. I wish her well, but I'm not going to waste blood over that. If you want to waste your life being in resentment, fine, go ahead,” he shared.
TheSilence of the Lambs actor has had a rocky relationship with Abigail for most of her life. The 87-year-old split from Abigail’s mother, his first wife, Petronella Barker, when she was just four years old.
In the 1990s, there was a brief period during which the father and daughter reconnected, with Abigail even appearing in two of Hopkins’ films, Remains of the Day and Shadowlands, though by the early 2000s, they once again lost touch with each other.
In 2006, Abigail told The Telegraphshe would be open to a reunion with her father, but it would need to be a two-way street.
Since then, Abigil has endured a health crisis, battling stage 3 colorectal cancer in 2020, though despite her medical issue, the duo remain on the outs.
The legendary actor admitted during his The New York Times interview that he believes it's time to put things behind them.

“Life is painful. Sometimes people get hurt. Sometimes we get hurt. But you can't live like that. You have to say, 'Get over it.' And if you can't get over it, fine, good luck to you. I have no judgment. But I did what I could. So that's it. That's all I want to say,” the actor expressed to the outlet.
Hopkins did make it clear in the interview that, despite everything, he doesn’t want to hurt his daughter, which is why he rarely speaks publicly about her or their estrangement.
We Did OK, Kid will be released on Nov 4, 2025.
