His mind certainly wasn’t with the Texas Longhorns on Saturday. At least, not according to fans who had to endure the 45-38 win over the Bulldogs. Texas trailed 24-14 at the half. Texas trailed 38-21 early in the fourth quarter.

Yes, Mississippi State blew the lead. Yes, Texas came back to win, 45-38, keeping its College Football Playoff and SEC Championship hopes alive for another week. But no one in burnt orange feels good about those chances after watching the latest offensive mess from the Longhorns.

In the first half of Saturday’s game, Texas gained 130 total yards at 3.6 per play. It gave up 281 yards at nearly 6 a play. Texas turned it over once and gave up 2 sacks.

For the entire game, Texas ran for only 72 yards.

All this came hours after Sarkisian was linked to the NFL. Reports surfaced Saturday morning that representatives for Sarkisian had made it known to NFL decision-makers that he was interested in potential head coaching jobs.

Whether that was the open Tennessee Titans job or the currently occupied Miami Dolphins job, Sark’s people were reportedly telling folks in the NFL he’d entertain opportunities.

Sarkisian’s representatives denied those reports, calling them “wildly inaccurate” and “patently false.” However, his team’s performance on Saturday night fueled plenty of jokes and a healthy bit of speculation that maybe there’s some truth to the reporting after all.

The NFL is going to put out a statement saying that none of its teams are interested in Steve Sarkisian.

Steve Sarkisian in year 5 of head coaching at the University of Texas recruiting nothing but top 5 classes and being one of the most respected offensive minds in the game has fielded one of the worst offenses in the country.
