Keep school meals and support local Colorado farmers

Three years ago, Colorado voters did something no other state had ever done and came together across party lines to pass Proposition FF, guaranteeing healthy school meals for all Colorado students. That victory made Colorado the only state to secure both school meals for all and farm to school procurement incentives through a ballot initiative.

Proposition FF earmarked a continuation of funds for schools to purchase fresh, nutritious foods directly from small family farmers and ranchers in Colorado by supporting the Colorado Local Food Program pilot. According to Colorado Department of Education pilot data, since the inception in 2019, 37 school districts have purchased $2.47 million in local food from 136 local farmers and food hubs, and schools have received over $750,000 worth of culinary training and technical assistance.

Passing LL and MM will allow this pilot to expand all across the state, investing in local farmers and strengthening rural economies. These measures will also provide training and support for cafeterias to shift from processed, packaged food to more fresh, from-scratch cooking using locally grown and raised Colorado ingredients.

On Nov. 4, vote Yes on Propositions LL and MM so every child in Colorado can continue to get a healthy, farm fresh meal at school.

    Gregor right for Ward 4

I am proud to share why I believe Amberleigh Gregor is the right choice for City Council, Ward 4.

Amberleigh leads with her heart and always puts people first. I’ve seen this firsthand through her support of George and me with our nonprofit, Kickz for Kidz, which provides school shoes to Indigenous children so they can walk confidently toward brighter futures. Her encouragement, compassion and willingness to help have meant so much — not only to us but to the kids whose lives are touched by this program.

Amberleigh doesn’t just talk about community; she lives it. She understands that real leadership comes from lifting others up and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Her kindness, humility, and dedication to helping people are exactly what we need on our City Council.

Through her ongoing involvement and genuine care, Amberleigh has shown she believes in making a difference one act of service, one conversation and one child at a time. That’s the kind of person I want representing Ward 4 — someone who shows up, listens and works hard to make life better for others.

I wholeheartedly support Amberleigh Gregor for City Council, Ward 4.

Tiffany Simmons for mayor of Greeley

As Tiffany Simmons’s husband, I’ve seen firsthand the heart and determination she brings to everything she does. Tiffany isn’t running for mayor out of political ambition. She’s running because she truly cares about the people of Greeley. She believes our city deserves leadership that listens, includes everyone in the conversation, and makes decisions based on transparency and fairness.

Tiffany has deep roots in this community and a clear vision for Greeley’s future. She envisions a Greeley where local businesses thrive, neighborhoods feel safe and connected, and City Hall serves the public with integrity. She brings both compassion and courage to the table, unafraid to ask tough questions or challenge the status quo when it’s the right thing to do.

I’ve watched her stand up for others time and again, not for credit, but because it’s just who she is. Greeley needs leaders who are compassionate, trustworthy and genuinely for all people.

I’m proud to support Tiffany Simmons for mayor, and I hope you’ll join me in voting for her this November.

    Kris Simmons, Greeley
