ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re still tracking some lake effect rain showers today, but it will be more dry than the past few days. Lake showers will be constrained to the lakeshore for the morning before chances for light scattered showers across the Rochester region this afternoon. It will be cloudy, with temperatures in the low 50s and wind gusts up to 20-25 MPH.
Saturday is looking mostly dry, mostly cloudy, and cool, with some more chances for a brief light shower southeast of Lake Ontario. The afternoon will be dry and highs will be in the low 50s again… In fact, our highs will be in the low 50s through most of next week. Sunday is looking partly cloudy with lots of afternoon clearing.
We could be having some frosty mornings the first half of next week, so bring in any sensitive plants before then. We’re tracking our next system later next week in the form of a coastal low that could drive in some moisture and showers from our east on Thursday, then spark some lake effect showers on Halloween. The question remains, if there are lake effect showers, will they go due east of the lakes or dip south into our area? That depends on the exact positioning and timing of the low, which is hard to pin down right now. So, the EARLY call is to play it safe and plan for showers. However, make sure you check in over the next few days to see how the forecast develops, because there is still plenty of time for that forecast to change.
