The Blackhawks invaded Tampa, and their fans were there. You could hear the Hawks fans in the stands throughout the game, and the Blackhawks gave their fans reasons to be excited. Chicago scored goals in each of the first two periods and had some other good chances. But the game was tied at two after 40 minutes.
The Blackhawks got a power play early in the third period and Yanni Gourde caught Connor Bedard in the mouth with his stick, cutting Bedard pretty well. The Hawks got 37 seconds of a 5-on-3 and Gourde was hit with a double minor for drawing (a good amount of) blood. But they didn’t have Bedard on the ice for the two-man advantage while Bedard got repairs. Tampa killed all three penalties, and the Blackhawks went short-handed almost immediately after the clock expired on their advantage. But an even strength goal won it for the Blackhawks.
Star 1: Ryan Donato
Donato scored for the fourth straight game in the middle of the second period to give the Blackhawks a 2-1 lead. He then scored his fifth goal of the season with 53 seconds left in regulation to give the Blackhawks a 3-2 lead.

— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) October 24, 2025Star 2: Spencer Knight
The Lightning carried the action in the first period before penalties took things off the rails. And Knight was once again brilliant. He stopped all 11 shots he faced in the opening 20 minutes. He made one ridiculous save on a Nikita Kucherov scoring chance in the first period. The first goal Tampa scored came after a brilliant save; Tampa tried to shoot the puck off his backside, but it went reverse five-hole all the way back to the point. I’m not sure Knight ever saw the puck on the way back through traffic.
Star 3: Frank Nazar
Nazar rifled home a power play goal in the first period to get the Blackhawks on the board. He was the most accurate shooter on the Blackhawks and was taking a big portion of the faceoffs. His shot created the juicy rebound that Donato deposited for the lead inside the final minute of regulation.

Teuvo Teräväinen had two assists in the game. He was excellent. I’ve got absolutely, positively no problem with Nick Foligno going after Mitchell Chaffee for boarding Sam Rinzel in the first period. Those are the penalties your teammates kill because they’re necessary. That wasn’t a clean hit by Chaffee. Rinzel was bleeding above his left eye and went to the room for repairs. Natural Stat Trick had the 5-on-5 shot attempts at 15-8 in favor of Tampa in the first period, but the Blackhawks had a 2-1 advantage in high danger chances at even strength. The 5-on-5 shot attempts thru two periods favored Tampa 44-22. High danger chances were tied at five each. The score on the scoreboard was also tied — at two. Colton Dach had a really good first period. He was tied with Landon Slaggert for the team lead with four hits thru two periods. I like how Dach was attacking the front of the net and working to get the puck. He had a good scoring chance early in the first but couldn’t quite finish. Slaggert also looked a lot more comfortable at game speed in his second game back from injury. Here’s a good rush from early in the third period. Unfortunately he was called for hooking with 11:39 left in the third period.Slaggert uses his speed to create a chance on the first shift of the third pic.twitter.com/h7eZ3vDHDg t.co/4MSFuUMSR4
— BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) October 24, 2025 The Blackhawks getting clipped for too many men on the ice while skating 4-on-4 is a penalty that can’t happen, though. Ryan Greene got some run during the power play and 4-on-4 ice time tonight. It appears the coaches are getting more comfortable with him in more situations. I honestly didn’t notice Lukas Reichel dressed for the game before he was credited with the only assist on Donato’s goal. At the end of the second period, Reichel had skated 9:48 with one assist, one giveaway, two blocked shots and was minus-one. He was stapled to the bench in the third period, even with the Blackhawks having almost six straight minutes of power play time. The Blackhawks got a power play late in the third period but Rinzel killed it for Tampa; he got called for holding JJ Moser (who had just made a nice play to take a chance away from Nazar). The Hawks have taken penalties while on the power play a few times more than one would like this year. Need to clean that up.Hence then, the article about blackhawks 3 lightning 2 three stars key takeaways was published today ( ) and is available on Bleacher Nation ( Middle East ) The editorial team at PressBee has edited and verified it, and it may have been modified, fully republished, or quoted.
