Authorities seized nearly 400 pounds of cannabis from three illegal dispensaries in Fullerton Thursday, Oct. 23, state officials said.
State officials, along with Fullerton police, seized 391 pounds of cannabis worth more than $620,000 from the dispensaries, according to David Hafner, a spokesperson for the state Department of Cannabis Control, which led the operation.
The raided dispensaries were located at 1001 S. Brookhurst Rd., 162 N. Raymond Ave., and 2444 Fender Ave. Authorities seized more than $459,000 of illicit cannabis from the Raymond Avenue dispensary alone, Hafner said.
No arrests were made. The investigation is ongoing.
Since 2022, Sgt. Steve Hart said, his office within the Department of Cannabis Control has partnered with local police across Orange County to crack down on illegal dispensaries.
Customers would go to the businesses thinking they were legal, which Hart said could pose health risks for those who would then use unregulated cannabis.
“People are unwittingly ingesting harmful stuff, so that’s one of the issues with illegal markets,” Hart said, “and then of course it’s giving money to illegal organizations.”
Hart urged anyone looking to buy cannabis to visit real.cannabis.ca.gov to find licensed retailers across the state.
