ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Firefighters responded to a fire at the former Tops grocery store on Lake Avenue in Rochester just after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
They found smoke coming from the entryway of the vacant building. Crews removed the boards from the building and extinguished the fire. They also ventilated the roof to ensure the fire did not spread into the ceiling.
Tops closed the store in 2018.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
