She also takes about a second off her former Irish National Record time of 4:26.52 from 2021. She swam that time at the 2021 Short Course World Championships to earn the silver medal.
In Carmel last week, she swam 4:28.47 to finish behind Great Britain’s Abbie Wood, which was her 2nd fastest swim ever before tonight.
Tonight, she sat in the back of the pack after the fly, but she slowly started building on the rest of the field and she turned in 1st after the breaststroke leg. From there, she built an even stronger lead with a monster final 100 to split 29.88 on her final 50 and grab the win.
