ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A clear night and calm wind allowed the air to cool to a crisp 33 degrees this morning in Rochester, the second coldest morning so far this season (32 degrees a week ago). Clear skies will be overtaken by clouds coming out of the northwest, and will likely stick around for the majority of the day. Temperatures will get up to the mid to upper 50s, with a greater chance to stay near the mid 50s since cloud cover came in a little early. Some sprinkles are possible later this afternoon/evening, which will eventually develop into scattered showers overnight. Not as cold tonight with lows in the mid 40s.
This weekend will be warmer but will have moments of rain. Saturday morning starts cloudy and has some showers, but the majority of the day will be dry and partly sunny with highs near 70 degrees.
Sunday is where things get interesting. A cold front approaches, meaning winds will pick up out of the southwest 10-20 MPH with gusts up to 30 MPH before widespread rain arrives in the PM. Some of the latest model guidance has shifted the timing of the front arrival from 5pm to 8pm, but we are going to continue to track this trend to see if it doubles back. Make sure to check back in for the latest forecast.
Temperatures dip back to the 50s after the cold front passes, with more chances for rain the first half of the workweek. Take caution driving as wet leaves on the road may reduce friction.
