ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Ever wondered how to protect your pets during an emergency? Rochester Animal Services and the Rochester Fire Department have you covered.
They teamed up to host a National Fire Prevention Week event Wednesday. A firetruck visited the animal shelter, and families and animal lovers learned the simple ways to keep pets safe during fires and other emergencies.
At the event Wednesday, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Pet Disaster Checklists and Pet Alert Window Clings were given out to attendees.
Reyjeanne Antoine says the checklist reminds people to open their windows, so if you can’t find your pets they can get out themselves, and to also pack your pets medical supplies and documents.
Pet Alert Window Clings let firefighters know a pet is inside the house.
