He emphasized that the signed Gaza agreement lays the foundation for a New Middle East that “rejects terrorism and lives in peace and stability.”
President Trump stated that the leaders who participated in the Summit “came because they know the value of this historic event,” praising the American role in making the agreement a success and saluting his diplomatic team.
Trump added that “what we achieved today is historic by all standards,” and suggested that history “may record the name of Secretary of State Marco Rubio as the greatest Secretary of State in U.S. history,” in recognition of his efforts to reach the agreement.
The US President described the return of the Israeli captives as an “amazing moment,” noting that the Israeli people are experiencing “overwhelming joy” after the end of the war. He stressed that the first steps toward peace are the hardest, but insisted that “the momentum is now moving toward achieving lasting peace in the region.”
Trump revealed that a number of wealthy countries have expressed a desire to help in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, confirming an agreement on the “necessity of supporting Gaza without funding any activities that incite hatred or violence.” He also stressed that “Gaza must be demilitarized, and the Middle East must become a safe place where everyone lives in peace.”
Trump called upon the countries of the region to join the Abraham Accords and the new Peace Council for Gaza, indicating that “many countries have expressed their desire to join, and we may need to expand the council.”
Trump concluded by stating: “A third World War will not happen in the Middle East. For the first time, we have a real opportunity to achieve peace. We want life to replace death, harmony to replace hatred, and unity to replace division. We will take the Middle East to a better future.”
