How does the FA Cup draw work?

There are no seeds in the FA Cup draw.

Instead, all rounds of club football’s oldest cup competition are drawn at random to determine which sides will be pitched against each other with the exception of the final.

Each club in the draw will be assigned a number corresponding to a ball that will be put into a container. Balls will be picked out one at a time to determine the first round fixtures.

Usually one person will draw the home teams and another will draw the away teams which means it is entirely possible that a team could play every game at home or away up until the semi-final and final which will be staged at Wembley.

How many rounds are in the FA Cup?

There are 12 rounds in the FA Cup which are split into qualifying and official competition.
