Hanz Palattao, 13, San Ramon Valley Aquatics (PC): Palattao had a sensational early-season performance at the PC Short Course Senior Open in late September, setting best times in all six events he raced and ranking among the fastest boys in the 13-14 age group this season despite being on the younger side of the category. Palattao clocked best times of 1:55.64 in the 200 IM and 4:03.39 in the 400 IM, both ranking 1st in the 13-14 age group this season, while he also sits 2nd in the 100 breast (58.17) and 200 breast (2:07.52), 3rd in the 500 free (4:38.75) and 5th in the 100 fly (53.20). He ranks 1st in all events this season among 13-year-olds other than the 200 breast, where he sits 2nd behind San Ramon Valley teammate Ayden Tan (2:06.24).
Reign Belzer, 9, Florida Atlantic Aquatics (FG): Belzer set six personal bests at the Mike Horgan Memorial Invitational last weekend in West Palm Beach, Fla., cracking the top 10 in the girls’ 10 & under age group this season in four of them despite still being nine. Belzer moves into 3rd this season in both the 500 free (5:49.79) and 100 fly (1:08.46), 5th in the 200 IM (2:31.61) and 10th in the 200 free (2:14.97), while in the 100 IM (1:11.12) she now ranks 17th.
Justin Shi, 16, Eagle Swim Team Inc. (MD): Shi set best times across the board at the EST Senior Invitational last weekend in Owing Mills, Md., moving into the top spot in the boys’ 15-16 age group in two events. Shi, who competes for Eagle Swim Team, put up times of 2:01.63 in the 200 breast and 1:48.55 in the 200 IM to rank 1st in the boys’ 15-16 age group in 2025-26. He also set bests to rank 4th in the 200 free (1:39.19), 5th in the 1000 free (9:33.24) and 6th 100 breast (57.40). He added a 500 free best of 4:42.17 as an official split in his 1000.
Yara Tsybulina, 11, NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, Inc. (VA): Tsybulina hit five best times at the NOVA 12 & Under Kick Off last weekend in Richmond, including ranking 1st among 11-year-old girls this season in two of them. Tsybulina posted times of 1:02.25 in the 100 IM and 2:15.58 in the 200 IM to rank 1st among 11-year-olds in both races, while she sits 3rd in the 100 fly (1:02.13), 4th in the 200 breast (2:41.32) and 7th in the 100 breast (1:15.25).
Kyle Weng, 12, Brea Aquatics (CA): Weng established six personal best times at the OC Senior Series Meet #1 in September, highlighted by his swims in the butterfly events. The 12-year-old clocked 2:02.64 in the 200 fly to rank 1st this season in the boys’ 11-12 age group by three and a half seconds, while in the 100 fly, he put up a time of 53.92 to rank 2nd. He also moved to 2nd in the 200 free (1:52.31) and 200 IM (2:05.74), 9th in the 100 back (59.05) and 10th in the 50 free (23.88).
