In a joint statement, the factions said: “We stress our absolute rejection of any foreign guardianship, and we affirm that determining the form of governance in the Gaza Strip and the work foundations of its institutions is an internal Palestinian affair determined jointly by the national components of our people.”
They also added that they are ready, “To benefit from Arab and international participation in the areas of reconstruction, recovery, and development support, in order to provide a dignified life for our people and preserve their rights in their land.”
“We renew our call for unity and national responsibility to embark on a unified national political path with all forces and factions,” the statement explained.
“We are working, in cooperation with generous Egyptian efforts, to hold an urgent comprehensive national meeting for the next step after the ceasefire, to unify the Palestinian position, formulate a comprehensive national strategy, and rebuild our national institutions on the foundations of partnership, credibility, and transparency.”
US President Donald Trump’s plan stipulates that Gaza will be governed by a temporary transitional authority of a technocratic, non-political Palestinian committee responsible for managing daily public and municipal services for Gaza’s residents.
It states that this committee “will be under the supervision and oversight of a new international transitional body called the ‘Peace Council,'” which will be chaired by President Donald Trump, along with other members and heads of state to be announced, including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
