BBC Sport has claimed that he will become the new director of football operations at Man Utd following the departure of David Harrison.

Manek’s responsibilities will include travel and logistics, player support and team operations.

He will report to director of football Jason Wilcox upon assuming the role.

The former Brentford chief will primarily work at Carrington, the base for daily football operation.

Manek spent three years with the London club after initially joining as business operations director.

He was promoted to chief operating officer last July.

His role was generally limited to administration at the Gtech Community Stadium.

However, his new job at United is expected to have a larger focus on football matters across the men’s and women’s teams.

Before moving to Brentford, the football guru spent five years at Arsenal, where he became head of first-team football operations.

Manek infamously received a fine after admitting a misconduct charge in 2019.

He allegedly exchanged words with fourth official Stuart Attwell and referee Jon Moss at half-time during a Premier League match between the Gunners and Crystal Palace and was charged £8,000 as a result.

Manek becomes the latest staff member to swap Brentford for Man Utd, following academy director Stephen Torpey.
