Luke Littler has revealed that he will be managing himself after an unexpected split from his company a few days ago.
The 18-year-old star had been represented by ZXF Sports Management, run by Martin Foulds, until just before the World Grand Prix got underway on Monday.
Littler joined the group in January 2021, so they’d been with him throughout his rise to the top of the game.
The teenager has won the Premier League and World Darts Championship already, but he revealed after his first-round win over Gian van Veen that he isn’t getting a new manager.
The match itself was incredible as Van Veen made World Grand Prix history with an average of 106.47 – the highest in the tournament’s history.
But Littler’s average of 105.58 wasn’t too bad either, and he was lethal on the doubles.
The Nuke ended with a 60 per cent checkout success, and given the tournament starts the legs with a double in, he was at 62 per cent for those.
Despite Van Veen’s unbelievable scoring, he only got three darts at doubles to win the legs.
And after the game, Littler sat down with the press and made a shocking revelation about his future, while hinting at something behind closed doors with ZXF Sports Management.
He said: “I am on my own. Just as myself.
“I just think it’s better. Obviously, I’ve got my family to support me.
“Martin done his job, but I think it was the right time.
Littler is going to have a lot more on his plate nowGetty“It’s just booking flights, hotels and all that stuff. But just on our own. Gary from Target will help as well – it’s going to be massive. We are going in the right direction.”
Asked to further expand on why he’s decided to be on his own, he said: “Obviously, no one knows what has been going on behind the scenes, and I won’t be saying anything.
“But it was just the right time.”
What was said initially?
“I want to say a massive thank you to @Zxfsports, and especially @Martin_foulds84, for everything they’ve done for me so far in my career,” Littler wrote on X when announcing the decision to split from Foulds.
“We’ve had some amazing times together over the last five years and I’ll always be grateful for the advice and support that’s helped me get to this point.
“As my career moves forward and the schedule gets busier, we’ve agreed it’s the right time for me to take the next step with new representation.
“Martin has been brilliant for me and I wish him and everyone at ZXF the very best.
“Excited for what’s ahead.”
Littler will be fully focused on his round two game against defending champion Mike De Decker as he looks to win the World Grand Prix for the first time.
